Julia’s Classic Fall Style Tips!

· · · Comments

My first style tip is to wear what works for you! We full figured women have been told that not everything is for our bodies. I say anything fashionable is for any “body” type; it’s all in how you style it and the confidence you display when wearing whatever you choose. I’ve put together a list of “rules” that work for me. I’m 5’2” (my daughters say I’m really 5’1” but I’m claiming the inch) and very pear shaped.

I Wear What I Want, When I Want

I don’t follow any particular rules! I try things and if I like it, I wear it. I dress my body up or down whatever way I wish. My rules are here to guide you in the direction you think will suit your figure best. Ultimately, if I’m more confident in something that breaks all the rules, that’s what I’ll be wearing. Feeling confident is the key to sexiness!

The peplum look is my friend! The peplum constantly comes in and out of fashion and is a great shape for my curvy body. By adding a belt to this jacket, I created a look that starts just under the bust or at my waist and falls in an A-line shape. It skims over my tummy and hips and provides a figure flattering silhouette for my body shape. It can work for you!

I like colors and prints, although I tend to add more bold colors to an outfit with my accessories. Be vibrant and wear bold colors! I love drawing attention to what I’m wearing, and I choose prints that work with my body and for the most flattering and dynamic look.

My Leather Jacket is a staple and is my fall weather “go to". I love it when paired with the Uli Panel dress, and I think it looks great with jeans and my white shirts which are a must for my more casual look.

Black is Beautiful! I like mixing my black pieces with pops of bold color or in accessories like a large white patent belt and a turquoise necklace. Any addition of texture or color make your black outfit look much more put together.

I love stripes!  As a full-figured woman I don’t avoid stripe, and neither should you! It's fun to play around with different direction of stripes to draw attention at the waist.

Sometimes Baggy Clothes Can Work!  When I say baggy, I don’t mean potato sack baggy. I mean loose and tailored to have a loose size. Sometimes a loose fit top or cover up is just what you need to feel comfortable. An asymmetric one can work wonders. Just be sure to balance the look with form fitting pants or leggings or striking boots!

Wear Body Conscious Clothes. I don’t shy away from bodycon tops, pants and dresses. Body con clothes look great on a full-figured woman. I prefer a form fitted look that’s not restricting, so I look as if I’ve chosen the right size!

I hope sharing tips that work for me are helpful for women of any size.
